This Week in Oatmeal 08/27/2016

Every Saturday, I gather oatmeal recipes from around the web from the previous 1-3 weeks, as well as outstanding Instagram photos. These posts may grow or evolve as time passes. Please feel free to give your feedback in the comments section!

It took me awhile to psych myself up for this, but I am officially down with green oatmeal! Not sure why I had such a mental block against it when I drink green smoothies every day. I guess it was because my daily bowl of oatmeal is such a sacred ritual, and I didn’t want anything to ruin it. Thank you to @amindfulvegan for this corn, blueberry and basil oatmeal recipe! I guess I’ll have to try the @oatmealartist ‘s shamrock oats next. – #vegansofig #veganlife #vegansofinstagram #nomadicvegan #oatmealartist #oatmealporn #oatmeal #breakfast #eatclean #veganfoodporn #veganfoodshare #whatveganseat #whatveganseatforbreakfast #healthyfood #healthychoices #healthybreakfast #green #greenlife #greenbeauty #greenoatmeal

Breakfast from 12:35 PM today: Oatmeal cooked with fresh blueberries? then topped with more blueberries?, sunflower seed butter?, and chocolate?. I forgot to add the usual 63% chocolate chips to my bowl ? but I did take a step forward by doing something I never imagined myself doing; I ate milk chocolate for breakfast ???. This isn’t just any milk chocolate, it’s #organic #bayarealocal and coffee flavored☕️. I ran low on coffee this morning so I decided to cut up this bar and share some with my coffee living dad, coffee tolerant brother, and occasional coffee drinking mom. I used to love milk chocolate more than dark chocolate, but I “grew” to love darker chocolate more because of the health benefits. Life is all about balance, people☯!! It’s okay to have milk chocolate if you love it more; or in my case need to get the coffee fix. Still working on decreasing my caffeine dependency but the chocolate bar I rediscovered in my fridge is presenting an obstacle. ?☕️?? #oatmealartist #oatmeal #blueberries #blueberryoatmeal #sunflowerseedbutter #chocolate #milkchocolate #fearfood #tcho #sogood #caffeineaddict #foodie #eatingdisorderrecovery #vegetarian #notvegan #balanceiskey

Next week’s theme is apples! It’s that time of year, so let’s see those pommes and manzanas in your porridge! If you want to be included, show me some oatmeal love with the #oatmealartist hashtag!

I have yet to try making a savory oatmeal recipe–I thought of this as I saw the basil on top! It would be pretty cool for me to make a pizza oatmeal, LOL! I feel daring. Maybe, maybe not, I don’t know XD
Anyways, I never fail to gain inspiration from all of these photos! Amindfulvegan always makes the most gorgeous oatmeal bowls!
